Many make the declaration that stripes have made a comeback this season, although I maintain they never went anywhere. I am a huge fan of stripes. And yes, my adoration is based in large part on the fact that they allow me to play dress up as say the conductor of the Orient Express, and because I like to amuse myself by enacting the role of a skilled sailor of the high seas…but, I digress. In addition to the aforementioned reasons, I love stripes because they commission a certified fashionista to offset an otherwise dull and lifeless outfit (think the American uniform: jeans and plain tee shirt) when paired with a striped accessory. In addition, a striped top has been implemented on many occasions by numerous ladies a la mode in substitution of the plain tee. Should you consider yourself to be a true mix master, pair your stripes with a contradictory pattern no one else would think to bedeck (think spots, waves, or swirls) to yield a most delightful aesthetic. May your Spring and Summer be dynamic, and filled with many good times, boisterous laughs, and stripes!
